Craftsman has released a gyroscopic cordless screwdriver just in time for the holidays, and it is available at Lowe's. Packed with features, this cordless screwdriver brings it's A game to the cordless screwdriver market.
The gyroscopic technology takes a little bit of getting used to, but is simple to understand: twist right to rotate right, and left for left rotation.
Beyond this most important feature, this driver is the best I've held in my hand. Mainly this is due to the design. It's not a simple plastic housing, but rather it has a rubberized grip overmold, something comonly seen on cordless drills and other heavy duty cordless tools and typically not something more simple like a cordless screwdriver.
The business end is lighted, and the light is super bright, too. I commonly use cordless screwdrivers in electrical applications, such as replacing a receptacle with the breaker turned off, and the light provided is perfect for this.
Lastly, the 4v battery is built-in and charges via a micro USB connection. The screwdriver features a battery indicator, which is yet another thing most cordless screwdrivers don't have.
The included charger delivers 5v of power at 1amp, which is on par with basic smart phone chargers, so it could conceivably be charged with most mobile phone chargers or directly to a USB port on a computer or other electronic device. Be warned however, the included owner's manual advises to only use the charger that comes with the screwdriver.
