Have you missed all of the commotion? I received a Craftsman hybrid saw on Friday! It features a granite table (yes I said granite), which makes for an ultra-smooth surface while forsaking rust and scratches that metal tops can incur. Hybrid saws are named such because they offer similar power rating (120v) to that of a contractor saw, but in the form factor of a cabinet saw, which allows for more accuracy through less vibration and a sealed motor for cleaner operation. My father-in-law has a cabinet saw, and watching it in action, along with drooling over Craftsman’s hybrid saw has always had me wondering if this saw would ever work in my small shop. The answer is yes. With my limitations of space I have, I always need to roll stuff around. With a 500lb saw now in my shop, it would need to be mobile. The Portamate 2500 was the most viable choice. My review of that will be coming soon. The saw also features a Beismeyer fence, which is the most accurate type of fence a saw can have. It’s very exciting to have this saw in my shop, and I’ll be posting more on it soon after I complete final assembly. Stay tuned!
